imageData Group has just taken charge of an Inca Onset digital machine supplied by Fujifilm Sericol. The new machine will be housed in its new 67,000 sq.ft, purpose-built digital printing centre, at Howden, East Yorkshire. The investments form part of the company's ongoing development of its large, medium and small format digital print capabilities.

Speaking about the substantial investments they have made, David Danforth, imageData Group's chief executive said, "Our objective is to have the most advanced digital production capability in the UK. Yes these investments are significant, but we are ready to push our digital offensive to the next level."

"Within the last three years," states Danforth, "We have acquired digital imaging specialist XPS; expanded into a new 18,000 sq.ft. automated document factory in Brighton; invested in Xerox iGen and Inca Columbia Turbo digital imaging technology; and installed XMPie software for cross-media, variable-data marketing. This is on top of our existing Indigo and DocuTech digital facilities. Now we have opened our northern digital operation at Howden and invested in the Inca Onset, with more investment on the way".

The Onset offers 500m2 of print per hour, compared to around 100m2 from its smaller brother, Columbia Turbo. It is designed for point of purchase advertising, outdoor graphics, retail displays and exhibition work and prints onto most graphic substrates up to 10mm thick and 3.2m by 1.5m in size.

"Crucially though," says Danforth, "It allows personalization of large format print, which is a huge leap forward for the market. The Inca Onset will be able to handle large format, variable print, which is ideal for regionalizing campaigns to promote store-specific or region specific pricing, offers and products."

imageData Group is keen to push its digital print capabilities forward. "But for print companies to succeed," says Danforth, "It's important that they are focused on customer demands and ensure that clients have a choice of formats depending on their individual marketing applications, creative executions, volumes and response times. With digital, screen and litho capabilities at our disposal we feel that our market position is now better than ever!"
